My Organic Bedroom

temp-post-image I am Joyce Robertson, President of Mountain Air Organic Beds. I want to share with you a very personal experience. On August the 9th, 2015 I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer. Disturbed about this news I started a major lifestyle change. Chris Wark of Chris Beat Cancer told me, “Joyce, if you want massive results then you would have to be willing to make massive changes and be willing to stick with these changes for the rest of my life” So I do want to live and be as healthy as possible, my motivation is living my life with a purpose to help others sleep better and be there to watch my grandkids grow up and live as long as possible.

So, I started juicing, drinking 11.5 alkaline water, eating raw and taking Tumeric. I learned everything I could about being healthy. Everyone came out of the wood work to help me and I found it overwhelming. While doing this, I chose to have the problem removed so I wouldn’t have to worry about it ever coming back. I really respect people who respected my decision. I feel we all do what we feel we should do. So, I visited the doctor and chose to go with a double mastectomy.

I need to get ready for the surgery, so I went for chiropractic adjustments to boost my immune system, did a little detoxing and rebounding and arm stretches. I was also worried about sleeping with my beloved boxer dog, LaViDa. As much as I love her I really didn’t want her laying on me while I was recovering so my queen size be had to go for something that was smaller.

Since we make organic wooden daybeds, I thought…this queen size bed takes up the whole room and it’s just me and my dog. My husband sleeps in another room and the only person that comes to sleep with me is my grand daughter.

I thought, wouldn’t it be great to have one of Gary’s EZ Snap Habitat organic sofa sectionals in my bedroom? Of course, I had to have a twist on it. So, Gary and I decided we could put a split queen adjustable bed 80″x30″x 7″ on one side to help me get in and out of bed, in the middle we can have a 30″ square section for my “Big Dog” which turned out to be a TeaCup Boxer. Who ever heard of that? She is so cute. The other side I though would be just outstanding for my grandkids to sleep when they come to visit. I have been blessed with 5 of them. So we designed that section to be at a angle so it could easily double as a sofa with the right pillows. I found our rubber pillows to be the best for back support so we use scraps and make round bolster or rectangular bolster pillows.

We have been building sofa daybeds and sectionals. Joy has been making the covers and it’s made just like our organic mattresses so I figured this would be just perfect! I love the fact we can change out the cover colors to decorate with the seasons.

Even the back is beautiful, it floats in a room.

I am crazy about the cubby holes for my remote controls and water.

It was perfect, Gary built it for me out of solid poplar wood, hand selected the most beautiful pieces and then stained it with a natural hemp oil stain. I was so impressed with his work. Gary is a true artisan and I can feel the love he puts in each piece he makes.

I got home from the hospital and La ViDa was so gentle around me. The adjustable bed was a dream to get in and out of by myself. I expressed to Lynette the Organic Guru, I was concerned about making organic meals. She said, “Don’t worry about it, I will teach you everything you need to know about what to buy organic and what to avoid.” Lynette went on to say, “First thing we will do is clean out your pantry, refrigerator.” She then took me grocery shopping and boy did I learn a lot. Not only is Lynette the Organic Guru, but she is the exclusive spokesperson regarding buying organic for Hyvee and Kroger Grocery stores and published author for Fuel For The Body.

Then she sent her son Chef Coty Pate over to prepare a week’s worth of organic food for me when I got home. He did that for me a couple of times and I learned so much I developed confidence in cooking “Real” food that I could to it too!

I gained so much energy from eating organic, rebounding I learned from Chris Beat Cancer and sleeping organic that when I got my test results back from the surgery it was not as bad as they predicted. Yes, I had cancer but now I don’t need chemo or radiation, of course I wouldn’t have taken it anyway. I believe in removing the problem and letting the body heal it’s self with the tools God gives us. Pure organic food, exercise, spirituality, harmony, praise and positive belief. I felt like the 8 weeks I was making all these dramatic changes had a great impact on my life. I can honestly say I have never felt better.

Thank you Chris Wark for helping so many people with your stories and interviews and recommending our mattresses.

Well before I digress too much, let me say I had Joy cut my Queen size fitted sheets down to be split queen and I just fold over my queen size organic fleece for added comfort and then I also fold over my comforter and sleep in it with my top sheet like a sleeping bag.

Do you know what Joy is doing in this photo below? She is taking the polyester stuffing out of a pet toy for La ViDa and re-stuffing it with wool. If La ViDa decides to tear it open and eat it, the wool will pass whereas polyester would cause her to have an emergency surgery for blockage. I don’t let her have any toxic tennis balls, only wool balls and organic cotton toys.

I roll my sleeping bag up during the day and put it on my quilt rack Gary made me yesterday. So now my organic sofa sectional looks like it’s all made up through out the day.

As I have been thinking about my home and how much fun it was to decorate my bedroom, I decided I could do that to the living room. So I have been very excited about decorating. You will see the photos of our organic daybed all decorated for Christmas.

Since we are empty nesters and have a 1,400 square foot home, I decided to make the most of our living room and dining room. It has always been a problem until one day I figured to turn everything at a angle with the fireplace! Thanks to Paulo for suggesting I consider tuning my hutch at an angle to create Feng Shui in the living room. I think Paulo and Vivian are real experts on harmonizing. lol…

I am looking forward to our Christmas 2015 dinner.

Gary took the idea of the chidren’s table top and incorporated it in a taller base and now I have a desk for the sofa sectional in my bedroom. How cool is that?

Here are my grandchildren who are going to get to enjoy it. Aren’t they adorable?

I have met a lot of great people in my journey for health from Barbra Landry, my friend who works for me takes me to church for spiritual healing and cares about my nutrition as well.

Don and Priscilla Warren who introduced me to and helped me clean my Kangen machine so I could start drinking Kangen Water again.

Sam and Becky Donaldson who were instrumental in helping me and countless others understand how easy and fun it is to eat raw.

Even Chef Coty who studied in London, made a variation of Sam’s and Becky’s Cashew Butter Lettuce salad and served it to me at a 5 course dinner.

Dr. Awilda Wilson, The Natural Path and Wellness Center in Rogers, Arkansas. Thank you for getting me on Serretia to accelerate my healing and detoxing program. Dr. Wilson is a Oncologist Doctor turned Naturopath and interpreted my thermal body scans which showed I have a great deal of inflammation in my body.

Paulo & Vivian EsAamorra who taught me how to harmonize my home and marriage by disrupting EMF waves and how to make the best Quinoa. I was so impressed with how harmonized we have become and it did lower my electric bill 25% and it did give me 20% better gas milage on my car by disrupting the EMF waves, I decided to incorporate it on our sleep by adding AamorraA’s into our mattresses and pillows so everyone can sleep harmonized.

Lynette Pate for introducing me to the fun and health benefits of drinking hot ginger water, I like to add Star Anise to it. Ginger is great for inflammation.

My husband for looking out for my sleep comfort and La ViDa for sharing her love with me.

Karen Reynolds, Nurse Practitioner of the year last year, Hometown Health Care. I Thank Karen and her staff for taking care of me.

Dr. Ben Ozanne, who’s entire immediate family and many of his patients sleep on our mattresses. Thank you Dr. Ozanne for treating my spinal health for years, boosting our immune system and sending us so many patients to get a better nights rest including their baby.

Dr. Cade Copeland of Maximized Living, Naples, Florida for his direction, support, counseling and opening doors with his network.

Marie Haygood and the Haygoods of Branson for the music therapy and Marie’s friendship. Can’t wait for your Christmas show.

Lynette verified Richard’s organic farm for the Pure Integrity Seal. What an adventure, it was like a week of summer camp! We went hiking, gardening, farming, eating organic the whole time and didn’t have a care in the world but just to have fun!

Barbra, Thea and Gary for watching the store and countless others for their prayers. Thea you are an amazing set designer. I love your work.

I am excited for the future, I have learned how to take care of myself first so I can take care of others. I have learned some valuable skills such as how to delegate and think about growing the business with my amazing team of consultants, affiliates and team of over 750 Doctors who recommend our mattresses world wide.

I am excited to welcome our new Systems Analyst, retired disabled military veteran Anthony (Tony) Carruba. Thanks to Tony and Igor at Shopping Cart Elite my life just got a ton easier. We are looking for Tony to continuing to update our process so we are as automated and paperless as possible.
